Coast Electrical Industries began its journey in Wollongong, New South Wales, as a partnership on July 28, 1973, before transitioning into its current form as a Proprietary Limited Company.
For five decades, we have been dedicated to manufacturing transformers for a wide range of applications including Industry, Mining, Rail, Shipping, Commercial, Domestic, and Rural sectors.
Over the years, we have developed a comprehensive range of "Illawarra Transformers" leveraging the latest technology, materials, and equipment available in the industry.
To accommodate our growth, we constructed a purpose-built factory in Wollongong in 1978, which included the installation of hydraulic and computerized coil winding machines.
Recognizing the importance of documented management procedures, we foresaw the need for Quality Assurance Accreditation to ISO9002 for Australian Industry, which we achieved in July 1994. Our ongoing commitment to Quality Assurance ensures that our customers can trust in the quality of our Australian-made products.
In 1987, due to increased demand, we doubled the size of our factory, and we expanded it again in 2002. The 2002 upgrade included the establishment of a full-sized metal fabricating shop equipped with hydraulic guillotines, brake presses, benders, and Mig-welding machines, allowing us greater control over the manufacturing process.
In 2006, we introduced CAD transformer design software, enabling us to enhance the engineering and reliability of our transformer designs significantly.
To improve project management efficiency, we implemented a computerized project management database in 2007. This system enables us to track customer orders from the quoting stage to the dispatch stage, ensuring smooth operations and on-time delivery.
In 2013, we acquired an AEM Unicore core manufacturing machine, enhancing our transformer manufacturing capabilities. This investment has allowed us to reduce transformer power losses, resulting in more efficient performance and lower power running costs for our customers.
At Coast Electrical, we prioritize the ongoing training and development of our staff. We ensure that all our employees receive the latest training and have access to the necessary tools to perform their jobs safely and with the highest levels of expertise expected by us.
